I have an old shed that I use for all my potting equipment.
All winter long, I would have my plants in the spare room, lights shining on them twelve hours a day, and the room heated to seventy degrees.
I collect everything I need to separate my plants and repot them in the spring, and it all gets stored in the shed. Many of my succulents and small vegetable plants get sold, but I always keep some to keep the business growing. Last month, I went to the shed to get out my peat pots and succulent soil. I noticed there was water on the floor and the roof had light shining through. A branch had come off the tree and was sticking through the roof. I told my husband I needed a new roof on the shed. He told me it would probably be cheaper to buy a new shed, but I didn’t want to hear it. I just wanted a new roof. I had all the equipment I needed to replant, and we built the shelves with tubs so I could empty the potting soil into them and not waste any of it. My husband told me he was going to call the roofers and see what it would cost to put a new roof on the shed. If he made that statement, I knew he was considering the new roof. It was a small roof, and I was sure I could pay for it with the money I paid for it with the money I make from my plants.
