I have never been the one to do what was popular, then for instance, I grew up in the South with some well-off folks which means I had to attend lots of parties and afternoon teas, i never liked going to these things, however I was forced to because of my mom, but so, one year, I decided to cut one of the major rules.
- I wore colorless to a party after Labor Day, and my terrible mother was horrified however I found it all to be comical… Needless to say, after that incident he never forced me to attend those boring parties again.
My mother has regularly tried to control every aspect of my life, however and even after I moved out of his house, he tried to dictate how things should be in my own home. She wanted to decorate my home with charming furniture and antique and glamorous furniture, but when I took his furniture shopping with me, he tried to option out certain pieces, however I found them to be gaudy and over-the-top. My mom was used to a certain type of sophistication and luxury, but clearly, I am not the same way. In fact, I like rustic furniture that is cozy and inviting, then everyday furniture that is not just there for decoration. Growing up, my mom’s house had so numerous glamorous furniture pieces that my pal and I weren’t allowed to be in certain rooms, and I was regularly bothered by that. So instead of glamorous furniture I chose to decorate my home with mostly rustic furniture that was overheated and welcoming. Needless to say, my mom didn’t approve, but it’s my house and I chose what made me thrilled.
