A few new additions to the AC plan

When we first moved out here, I was so thrilled that Dave and I had pretty much negligible heating costs. And that sort of spilled over to how Dave and I approached using the air conditioning during the intense Summer heat. For sure, the Summer heat and humidity are just a complete monster and overbearing at first. So I thought since I wasn’t paying absolutely much for heating costs that we’d just lean into all the cooling we wanted in the Summer. That’s one way of looking at it but it soon became obvious that this was a dumb way of cooling the house. After letting the air conditioning just run wild for the first two years, I decided to start prepping the home in order to save on cooling costs. From there, it has become sort of an unusual little hobby for me to try to keep saving just a bit more each year when it comes to the air conditioning costs. This year is a little different. Of course, I regularly start with Heating, Ventilation & A/C service on the heater. And then stopping direct sunlight heating and sealing up the home absolutely tight are the next few steps. But after that, I’ve added something each year to save a bit more. The greatest saver so far was actually adding a smart control unit. That Heating, Ventilation & A/C technology was a big saver at nearly sixteen percent over the year prior. Yet, I still like to add a bit to the air conditioning plan. So this year, I will try to cook outside on the grill all Summer instead of heating up the kitchen with the stove or the oven. It’s either that or try hanging up the wash instead of using the dryer.
