I cherish the fact that my superb friend Zed and I are getting ready to get into the hot Summer months. Of course, that’s not the general consensus in this region as Summer is not a beloved season. But Zed and I have lived here all of my life so I’m pretty superb when it comes to adapting to all the excess heat & humidity. For sure, having superb residential Heating & Air Conditioning sure helps a whole lot. I’m lucky to own such a superb heat pump that provides the cooling comfort Zed and I need from June through September. These are entirely the most brutal months that Zed and I have to face. But at least from June through the end of September, I get to see my child a whole lot more. I work from home in the central a/c of my house. I was truly working remotely prior to the pandemic so I’ve got this working from house thing wired. Zed & I have one child & she is just awesome. But she also has the most sensitive internal thermostat of any human I know. It may have to do with the fact that she’s very small & has just zero body fat on her. When the a/c is on during the Summer, my child can be found roaming around the house in a black hoodie. But this year, it’s going to be different. I had the Heating & Air Conditioning team come in & tweak the Heating & Air Conditioning equipment so my superb friend and I now have zone controlled central Heating & Air Conditioning. There are now a total of 6 thermostats & 6 separate Heating & Air Conditioning zones in our home. This will allow my child to customize the thermostat settings in her room so at least she’s not sleeping in that hoodie.
Getting him settled with new a new home and new Heating & Air Conditioning
It’s truly cool that my dad Jim is now down here with us.
It took a whole lot of lobbying on my part, & my sibling chiming in for us to get Jim to move, as dad grew up & spent his entire adult life way up north.
That is the land of the gas heating system & not for the faint of heart when it comes to cold winter weather. Our mom died four years ago after a very brief illness. I guess Jim wanted to stay in the family house as a connection to mom. But it was getting to the point where Jim wasn’t able to get out of the house when the snow came. And it was just too much house for Jim to keep up. My sibling truly thought he should transport south where I live & I agreed. So I asked if I could work remotely for a month to get up north & help my dad sell the house. My friends and I upgraded the old residential Heating & Air Conditioning equipment & did some other upgrades to the old house. I was sort of blown away by the final number. I’m so blissful that Jim and I were able to capitalize on this real estate bubble. So my superb friend and I moved Jim down & he initially stayed inside the central a/c of our house with us. This was a superb way to transition for Jim as he just prefers being around his grandchildren. It took us about 6 weeks to find the best spot for him. It’s a nice little house that sits right on a golf course. This is heaven for Jim as just watching golfers is a superb time for him even if he’s not playing. Jim and I were also lucky that this place came with the latest in Heating & Air Conditioning technology & a brand new heat pump.
Getting a better heating & cooling unit at work
So the next two Mondays, my superb friend Max and I are working remotely from the house as the office finally gets new commercial Heating & Air Conditioning.
This has been long awaited by any of us who’ve suffered with the worst heating & cooling system.
I’ve been in this office now for a dozen years or so & the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning has never been good. In the Winter, I have to bring in a space heater. I put that little space heating system right underneath my desk & often have to wear my coat at times. That seems deranged to me, and how could a substantial supplier like this not have basic heating & cooling? I often wondered if it was just our office or what. Well, I got an answer when I was sent to the southern offices to fill in for a month. That place not only had the most superb commercial Heating & Air Conditioning but there was zone controlled Heating & Air Conditioning in that office building. I was astonished at just how nice that place was & the heating & cooling was virtually perfect. When I came back, I truly offered an earful to the bosses when they asked for my feedback on my time down south. And I didn’t let up either. I encouraged my other colleagues to press corporate for new commercial Heating & Air Conditioning as well. It just wasn’t right that Max and I were somehow the step child office that wasn’t getting satisfactory heating & cooling. Well, I feel like our pushing for new commercial Heating & Air Conditioning finally did something. The boss finally told us that it would take the Heating & Air Conditioning professionals two long weekends to upgrade the old, weak commercial Heating & Air Conditioning. And Max and I too are getting zone controlled Heating & Air Conditioning as well. I was told that there will now be 8 Heating & Air Conditioning zones across the office. It’s overdue but boy, I’m so cheerful it’s happening.
New addition to the a/c plan this year
When Bob and I first moved down here, I felt so cheerful that my superb friend and I had pretty much negligible heating costs.
And that sort of spilled over into how Bob and I approached the a/c during the Summer.
For sure, the Summer heat & sweltering humidity are just a complete beast & very overwhelming at first. So I figured since I wasn’t paying truly anything in heating costs that I’d just lean into the cooling that Bob and I wanted in the Summer. That’s one way of looking at it but it soon became clear that this was a ridiculous way of cooling the house. After letting the a/c just run wild for the first three years, I decided to begin prepping the house in order to save on cooling costs. From there, it has been a strange little interest for me to keep saving just a bit more each year when it comes to lowering the a/c costs. This year is no different. Of course, I consistently start with basic Heating & Air Conditioning maintenance on the heat pump. And then stopping direct sun heating & sealing up the ducts truly tightly are the next essential steps. But after that, I’ve added something each year to save a little bit more. The largest saver so far was entirely adding the smart thermostat. The new Heating & Air Conditioning technology was such a substantial saver at nearly 17 percent over the year prior. Yet, I still like to add a bit to the a/c plans. So this year, I’m going to try & cook outside on the grill all Summer instead of heating up the house with using the stove or the oven. It’s either that or try hanging up the clothes instead of using the dryer.
Self sufficiency and off the grid Air Conditioning
When I first started living out here in the woods, it was stranger than it is now.
Even with all the planning & strategic execution of my plan, it was taxing at 1st.
Living off the grid is not something that was done all that much back when I chose to do it. But currently, I even have residential Heating & Air Conditioning in my lodge way out here in the woods. It was quite funny when the Heating & Air Conditioning professional had to follow me all the way out here in the woods. I had paid a bit extra for them to make the trip. Still, the Heating & Air Conditioning service tech was pretty blown away by how far out in the woods I truly live. The Heating & Air Conditioning guy was able to install the ductless heat pump that afternoon & was back in the world by evening, and I was now the proud owner of a new ductless heat pump. It’s just me & my wife Kim out here so it’s not like my superb friend and I need a ton of space. So just one ductless heat pump was all that was needed. When it comes to heating, the wood stove provides all of that & then some. But as Kim and I are getting older, my superb friend and I sure wanted some a/c for the Summer months. It can get so thick & boiling here to the point that fans just weren’t cutting it. With the advanced solar array Kim and I installed along with the advancements in Heating & Air Conditioning technology made having residential Heating & Air Conditioning a special occasion for us. Kim and I even used the heating from the ductless heat pump a few times this past Winter, then normally, there is a roaring fire going for heating all Winter. But when Kim and I have to travel or go to see friends overnight, it’s nice to have the ductless heat pump while I get the fire lit again.
Heating & Air Conditioning in the study
I’ve consistently been so amazed & impressed by my wife Kim.
But the fact that she is going back to school to get her Master’s degree is most impressive indeed.
This is on top of working full time & being a mother to our two youngsters, and like me, Kim works full time inside the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning of an office building. We’re both so lucky to be working in fields that Kim and I enjoy. For her to go where she wants to go with her career, it took graduate school, since her supplier is paying for it & my superb friend and I live in a school town, it seemed like a no brainer. But Kim and I also knew that this sort of commitment would come with a lot of change. I was legit willing to do whatever I could do in order to support my wife’s goals. To that end, I’m doing more around the central a/c of the house to free Kim up more. That means doing the cleaning, the shopping, most of the cooking, the laundry & all of that. The youngsters have even helped out by getting rides to after school stuff & being better about picking up after themselves, however yet, Kim and I faced a challenge immediately when it came to having a quiet place to read for my wife; The kids and I all did our best to keep it down but it’s not like my superb friend and I live at a Borders. So my superb friend and I ended up clearing out the old room at the end of the house. I put in a desk & even had the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier come out. They installed a small ductless heat pump for heating & cooling in the mud room. The fact that it’s all the way on the distant end of the house & sealed off from the noise made a substantial difference.
