I’m in love with this time of year.

• Actually, I’m in love with just about any time of year that isn’t Winter.

We have a bit more of that season that I would prefer. Around here, it starts getting cold in October and the gas furnace will be running into and sometimes through April. So May is just a joy for me. The gas furnace isn’t coming on at all. I called the HVAC company to set up the air conditioning tune up. And it’s time to get the garden going. I love seeing all the green because it reassures me that I have a reprieve from Winter for a bit. My husband took a job up here. Working from home as an IT consultant allowed me to follow wherever I needed to go. But believe me, I wasn’t so into heating a house all Winter. Where I come from, the heat pump hardly even comes on during the Winter. The first few Winters up here, we had to deal with an older gas furnace. We inherited the HVAC equipment as part of getting an amazing price on our home. However, that old gas furnace was expensive and it was always a bit cold in the house. But this past Winter, we replaced that gas furnace with a new one. And wow, what a difference that made. Our house was cozy warm all Winter long. Additionally, we saved a ton of money on heating costs we all the added efficiency of the new fas furnace. It even made the transition to Spring weather all the more easy. Thanks to the new HVAC equipment, I didn’t actually hate the Winter this year. But I’m sure glad it’s over and I get to be outside in the sunshine now.

Wishing for something to happen isn’t going to do all that much toward actually making stuff happen.

Now, I’m a firm believer that perceived results aren’t always what’s best.

However, I also know that one has to put forth a bit of effort to see where that takes you. This has never been more true for me than with my annual battle with cooling costs during the Summer. The air conditioning comes on and stays on pretty much from June through September. If one doesn’t at least try to curb the amount the heat pump is running, there won’t be any wishful costs savings. I finally got this through my head after just wishing that I could lower my air conditioning costs. In fact, I had to actually get up and do something to make this happen. It’s so nice though that I didn’t have to look any further than my HVAC company. I took a look at their website on the advice of the HVAC technician who was here doing the air conditioning tune up. I had the opportunity to be here and talk with him a bit about different strategies that I could employ to lower the high costs of cooling the house. The HVAC professional was right, it was all right there for me on the website. All I did was just follow step by step to get my house ready for the heat and humidity. The air conditioning tune up was already done so I even started the process off with a checkmark. We are now just weeks from constant heat and humidity. But I’ve never felt better about our chances of saving some money this Summer.

It is in those sites that I feel the most comfortable breathing in the air.

A couple afternoons ago, I was chatting with my mom on a video call, plus I noticed that he had a face mask hanging from his ear as he had just gotten back from the store, i didn’t realize that he was still wearing a face mask in public spaces, then these afternoons, I barely see face masks when I am out in public plus with the COVID-19 mandates coming to an end, I assume that wearing a face mask will eventually go away, and although I no longer wear a face mask in public spaces, I am still sad about the air quality for indoor spaces. Some sites have updated their Heating plus A/C systems to include media air cleaners. It is in those sites that I feel the most comfortable breathing in the air. A couple years ago, indoor air quality was a huge deal, however now that the pandemic is over plus the mandates are going away, people are less sad about the air that they are breathing in, then for me, indoor air quality is still on my radar. In fact, when I go to steakhouses, I still appreciate to sit outside where I know that I am breathing in fresh air. Also, when I am at home, I make sure that my indoor air quality is optimal by changing my air filter plus I also make sure that my Heating plus A/C device is well maintained because it is responsible for the ventilation in my house. All in all, but I am no longer wearing masks, I am still undoubtedly vigilant about indoor air quality, plus I will consistently be regardless if there is a future pandemic or not.

I’m lucky to have the PTO and holiday time that I do.

But it also took decades of working with the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning of the office to get to this point as well.

Still, now I have 5 weeks of holiday time per year, which is something I cherish. And getting away at the end of Summer for two weeks has been a tradition since my youngsters were in diapers. In fact, my wife Connie & I used to get away for four or five afternoons at the end of Summer before the youngsters were born. Now, the three children are having children & that makes the family holiday even that much more fun. But for me and Connie, I like to indulge myself when it’s holiday time. I am superb about eating right & getting outside of the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning at supper time for a long walk. I’ve cut out so numerous things that I still have such a craving for. So holiday is the one time where I can indulge my appetites a bit & not feel bad about it. And these afternoons, a little bit of these cravings go an unquestionably long way. Another thing that has been curbed in our house is the a/c. Connie and I have a smart thermostat now that truly keeps precise tabs on the a/c output. From a sheer cost savings standpoint, that’s just awesome. Connie and I are saving so much more currency over the course of an entire heat season from June through September. So Connie makes sure that the holiday rental Connie and I stay in has zone controlled Heating & Air Conditioning. I like to have a thermostat in our own room so I can crank down the cooling & snuggle in deep even though it’s the beach at the end of Summer.

My older sibling Ben rarely calls me at the office so I knew that something was up. I was pretty sure our mom was doing okay since she had texted me superb morning earlier. This is so my mom. I’m 50 years old & she’s over 70 although she still says superb morning every, single afternoon. Honestly, I really dig her. But sitting inside the zone controlled Heating & Air Conditioning of my office answering that call from Ben made me start to stress sweat. Thankfully, all the people was fine. Ben lives not too far from my mom while I live nearly a thousand miles away. The nature of the call was to address her heating & cooling situation at mom’s. She is still in the same little house that she moved to after Ben & I went off to school. It’s a small, 2 dining room with central a/c. But the central Heating & Air Conditioning equipment is at least 30 years old. I had tried once before to get her to let me upgrade the residential Heating & Air Conditioning to no avail. She is very strange like that when it comes to us helping her out. So Ben was telling me that she thought that the heat pump had finally died but mom wasn’t doing anything about it. That meant another trip to see mom & get this thing done. There was no way my mom was going through the Summer without a working a/c. I called the local Heating & Air Conditioning supplier & made an appointment for a Monday morning. I showed up on a Monday & Ben and I decided to go together to talk with the Heating & Air Conditioning professionals. It looks like mom will be getting a ductless multi split system as the air duct in her house is not so superb either. But ductless heat pumps are awesome & she’ll have a/c.

When the Heating & Air Conditioning service tech told us that our heat pump was on its last lap, I went straight into how to save currency mode.

That’s what I do these afternoons in order to get around all the high costs I seem to get hit with from maintenance companies.

I hate the fact that I have overpaid for repair services so often. It starts out as one price that seems satisfactory. Then, you get the bills & there are all these additional charges that weren’t part of the original discussion. So when the Heating & Air Conditioning tech told me it was time to upgrade the Heating & Air Conditioning equipment, I got to work doing research. I figured that I’d just get myself online & start figuring out what our next central Heating & Air Conditioning might be. I mean, how taxing could that be? It took about an hour for me to realize that I was totally & completely out of my element when it came to finding Heating & Air Conditioning equipment to upgrade the old heat pump. My wife Kimmy offered me some slack despite the fact that I guess Kim already had the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier on speed dial. I relented to meet up with the Heating & Air Conditioning contractor & I’m sure blissful that I did. Not only was he absolutely an expert when it came to all things heating & cooling, the guy truly listened to us as well. Kimmy and I had some identifiable heating & cooling needs that she and I truly wanted to address with this Heating & Air Conditioning upgrade. I’m so thankful I just let the Heating & Air Conditioning professionals take care of the entire thing. It was a delight to rest back & let the people who know heating & cooling take care of the minor details. And the price was just as my superb friend and I had agreed to during our initial meet up. Wow, that was refreshing as well.
