When I first started living out here in the woods, it was stranger than it is now.

Even with all the planning & strategic execution of my plan, it was taxing at 1st.

Living off the grid is not something that was done all that much back when I chose to do it. But currently, I even have residential Heating & Air Conditioning in my lodge way out here in the woods. It was quite funny when the Heating & Air Conditioning professional had to follow me all the way out here in the woods. I had paid a bit extra for them to make the trip. Still, the Heating & Air Conditioning service tech was pretty blown away by how far out in the woods I truly live. The Heating & Air Conditioning guy was able to install the ductless heat pump that afternoon & was back in the world by evening, and I was now the proud owner of a new ductless heat pump. It’s just me & my wife Kim out here so it’s not like my superb friend and I need a ton of space. So just one ductless heat pump was all that was needed. When it comes to heating, the wood stove provides all of that & then some. But as Kim and I are getting older, my superb friend and I sure wanted some a/c for the Summer months. It can get so thick & boiling here to the point that fans just weren’t cutting it. With the advanced solar array Kim and I installed along with the advancements in Heating & Air Conditioning technology made having residential Heating & Air Conditioning a special occasion for us. Kim and I even used the heating from the ductless heat pump a few times this past Winter, then normally, there is a roaring fire going for heating all Winter. But when Kim and I have to travel or go to see friends overnight, it’s nice to have the ductless heat pump while I get the fire lit again.

I’ve consistently been so amazed & impressed by my wife Kim.

But the fact that she is going back to school to get her Master’s degree is most impressive indeed.

This is on top of working full time & being a mother to our two youngsters, and like me, Kim works full time inside the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning of an office building. We’re both so lucky to be working in fields that Kim and I enjoy. For her to go where she wants to go with her career, it took graduate school, since her supplier is paying for it & my superb friend and I live in a school town, it seemed like a no brainer. But Kim and I also knew that this sort of commitment would come with a lot of change. I was legit willing to do whatever I could do in order to support my wife’s goals. To that end, I’m doing more around the central a/c of the house to free Kim up more. That means doing the cleaning, the shopping, most of the cooking, the laundry & all of that. The youngsters have even helped out by getting rides to after school stuff & being better about picking up after themselves, however yet, Kim and I faced a challenge immediately when it came to having a quiet place to read for my wife; The kids and I all did our best to keep it down but it’s not like my superb friend and I live at a Borders. So my superb friend and I ended up clearing out the old room at the end of the house. I put in a desk & even had the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier come out. They installed a small ductless heat pump for heating & cooling in the mud room. The fact that it’s all the way on the distant end of the house & sealed off from the noise made a substantial difference.

I own a local landscaping biz & going to work every afternoon is truly a bit of a passion & not just a task, i cherish how I don’t need to spend my afternoons inside some office with zone controlled Heating & Air Conditioning; There is no tie or costly shoes that I am supposed to put on.

I don’t have to go to a conference room for hours of boring meetings either.

I’m out in the elements every single afternoon offering my skills and services to my customers. To do that, I have to invest in quality equipment & take good care of that investment, otherwise, I’m not doing a fundamental part of being a business. This is why it consistently blows my mind to go into a supplier that doesn’t have satisfactory heating & cooling. This is happening more & more often I’m finding. It’s one thing to kneel in line with bad a/c at the vegetable stand, then but it’s quite another to be at a substantial warehouse sort of structure shopping with bad commercial Heating & Air Conditioning, then where my superb friend Sam and I live, it’s more about the cooling than it is about the heating so a quality commercial Heating & Air Conditioning unit is a must, then even one of my favorite restaurants learned the most taxing way that commercial Heating & Air Conditioning is a fundamental part of having a business. I always enjoyed this place & they went to all carry out during the pandemic. This was OK with me as dining in the restaurant was consistently uncomfortable due to a dire lack of cooling from the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning. Once the pandemic began to wane, these folks noticed a considerable drop in diners, finally, they upgraded the old commercial Heating & Air Conditioning equipment & now there is a line out the door now each time I pass by that restaurant.

I’m very lucky to have as much holiday time as I do.

• But it also took decades of laboring inside the commercial Heating, Ventilation & A/C of the office to hit this point in my career as well.

Still, getting 5 weeks of holiday time per year is something I cherish. And getting away at the end of Summer for two weeks has been a grand tradition since our youngsters were little babies. In fact, my wife Max and I used to get away for four or five mornings at the end of Summer before the youngsters were born. Now, our kids are having their own children and that makes the family holiday even that much more fun. But for me, I still like to indulge myself when it’s holiday time. I am wonderful about eating properly and getting out of the commercial Heating, Ventilation & A/C at lunch time for a walk. I’ve reduced several things that I still have such a craving for. So being on holiday is a time where I can indulge my appetites a bit and not feel bad about it. And currently, a little bit of those cravings go a legitimately long way. Another thing that has been curbed in our household is the air conditioning. We have a smart control unit now that absolutely keeps precise limits on the air conditioning output. From a cost savings standpoint, that’s just awesome. Max and I are saving so much more money over the course of an entire heat season from June through September. So Max makes sure that the holiday rental we stay in has zone controlled Heating, Ventilation & A/C. I like to have a small control unit in our living room so I can crank the cooling and snuggle in deeply even though it’s the beach at the end of Summer.

My sibling Doug rarely calls me at my office so I knew that something was up.

• I was pretty sure mom was okay since she had messaged me “have a wonderful morning” earlier.

This is my mom for you. I’m 50 years seasoned and she’s 71 but she still likes to say “have a wonderful morning” every single afternoon. Honestly, I kind of love it. But sitting inside the zone controlled Heating, Ventilation & A/C of my office answering a phone call from my sibling Doug made me start to stress sweat. Thankfully, everyone was fine. Doug lives not too far from my mom while I live nearly a thousand miles away. The nature of his call was to address the heating and cooling situation at mom’s. Mom is still in the little home that she moved to after my sibling and I went off to university. It’s a very small, 2 living room with central air conditioning. But the Heating, Ventilation & A/C device is well over 30 years old. I had tried before to get her to let me update the residential Heating, Ventilation & A/C to no avail. Mom is unusual like that when it comes to us helping her out. So Doug was telling me that she thought the heat pump had finally died but mom wasn’t doing anything to fix it. That meant a trip to see mom and get this thing done. There was no way my mom was going through the whole Summer without air conditioning. I called the local Heating, Ventilation & A/C business and booked an appointment for a Sunday. I showed up on a Monday and Doug and I decided to go together to talk with the Heating, Ventilation & A/C professionals. Looks like my mom will be getting a ductless multi split system as the air duct in her home is not wonderful either. But ductless heat pumps are awesome and she’ll have quality air conditioning.

When the Heating, Ventilation & A/C specialist said that our heat pump was on its last lap, I went straight into savings mode.

• This is what I do these mornings in order to get around all the high costs that I seem to get whacked with from service companies.

I do not like the fact that I have overpaid for many services over the years. It starts out as one price that seems satisfactory. Then, you get the bill at the end and there are all these additional charges that weren’t part of the original discussion. So when the Heating, Ventilation & A/C pro told me it was time to replace the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, I got to work. I figured that I’d just get myself online and start figuring out what the next residential Heating, Ventilation & A/C might be. I mean, how strenuous could it be? It took less than half an hour for me to realize that I was totally and completely out of my depth when it came to finding a Heating, Ventilation & A/C device to replace the seasoned heat pump. My wife Jen gave me some slack but I know she already had the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business on speed dial. I finally relented to meeting with the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business and I’m sure blissful that I did. Not only was he a true expert when it came to all things heating and cooling, the guy absolutely listened to Jen and I as well. We had some particular heating and cooling needs that Jen and I absolutely wanted to address with this Heating, Ventilation & A/C update. I’m feeling blissful that I just let the Heating, Ventilation & A/C experts take care of the whole thing. It was a joy to lay back and let the people who know heating and cooling take care of all the small details. And the price was just as we had agreed to during our initial meeting. Wow, what a refreshing experience.
