The weather is warm one day and frigid the next day

Even though it is winter outside right now, it is still really warm on some days throughout the week, then on Wednesday temperatures were in the 40s and cold; I had to run the boiler during the day and at night.

I made cookies to warm up the dwelling and my friend and I had tepid chocolate by the fireplace.

Over the weekend, temperatures were closer to 68° with lots of sunshine and really few clouds. I found myself wanting to turn on the air conditioner during the day. I tried to keep myself from turning on the air conditioner device because I know how terrible it is for the system to run on heat one day and then run on cool the next. I turned on a couple of fans throughout the dwelling so I could have a nice breeze when the temperature was warm! Now it’s going to be in the 40s again. I am going to need to use the boiler. I am extremely concerned about the condition of the heating and air conditioner unit, so I decided to contact a local repairman to have a full system maintenance tune-up performed on the boiler. If there are any concerns at all, the tune-up will find them. I simply contacted a local supplier that has wonderful reviews on line for client maintenance and prices. I’ve used the commercial heating and air conditioner device system repair supplier in the past and I believe this is the same supplier that installed the boiler various years ago. I did not ask when I called, however I am pretty sure that the same supplier is coming to help.

Zone controlled HVAC is a winner

The air conditioning tune up was great for two reasons this year.

Of course, the first reason the air conditioning tune up was great is that HVAC maintenance maximizes the efficiency of the heat pump.

And I’m all about getting the most out of the heat pump for the Summer. This is the time of year that we all dread the most when you call this region home. The Winter is awesome and we hardly even need any heating. Actually, we’ve gone to just breaking out a space heater most times when it’s a bit chilly on a Winter morning. The heat pump stays pretty quiet that time of year so I’m not spending a bunch of money on heating. That’s great but that doesn’t mean that I just let the HVAC go crazy all Summer either. So getting the most from our heat pump is always a great thing. But the other great thing about this Spring’s HVAC maintenance appointment was what I learned from the HVAC technician. I had been under the impression that if you wanted zone controlled HVAC, you pretty much had to replace the residential HVAC equipment. That’s not the case at all as I was to learn. Our heat pump is not quite 10 years old. But we have really been wanting the zone controlled HVAC. It seems that every member of our family has a different air conditioning need during the Summer. When the HVAC professional told me that they can retro fit our existing HVAC unit for zone controlled HVAC, I was all about it. And now, we are enjoying the zone controlled HVAC this Summer. Actually, this new deal also helps me customize the air conditioning so I’m not over cooling places in the house that aren’t used all that much.

Selling the house comes with new residential HVAC

I love numbers.

That’s sort of strange given the fact that I really wasn’t all that good at math when I was in school.

Yet, I really do look to the numbers when it comes to making decisions. And that has never been more true than when it came to selling our home. My wife and I raised our family inside the central air conditioning comfort of that home. It was also the first place we ever bought. And when we bought it, the house came with new residential HVAC. Believe it or not, that old HVAC equipment made it 27 years. For sure, getting HVAC maintenance twice a year made a big difference when it came to that level of longevity. The first number that started our conversation about selling the house were the big numbers other homes were selling for. The kids were out of the house and it really didn’t make much sense for us to keep such a big place that was really meant for a family. But when the realtor came out for our initial meeting, I was seeing more and more numbers flying at me. There were so many things that she wanted us to renovate. I was almost not so sure she wasn’t trying to get more of a commission. I shared this feeling with my wife and she had a very logical response. My wife simply asked to see the numbers. So the realtor stopped by again with the data showing what were the big drivers when it came to home value. New residential HVAC and the latest in HVAC technology was first on the list. That made the decision to replace the HVAC unit all the more easy to agree with.

Don’t gamble on air conditioning comfort

So my friend just made the worst bet ever.

Like any homeowner who takes care of their HVAC equipment, my buddy had the air conditioning tune up done this past March.

That’s when I do it to. But we belong to the HVAC service plan provided by our HVAC company. This is an HVAC service that this HVAC company has offered since we first bought this house almost 15 years ago. Along with some other renovations, we had to replace the heating and cooling equipment once we moved in. The house was such a deal that we snapped it up knowing that we would have to take care of stuff like the residential HVAC. After investing all that money in new HVAC equipment, we wanted to be sure that we got the most protection for our investment. Of course, consistent HVAC maintenance is the best protection and we wanted to be sure that we were consistent. I’m not great with remembering stuff like HVAC maintenance appointments so that makes the HVAC service plan all the better. The HVAC company does the scheduling and all I have to do is respond to the email. My buddy has been sort of hit and miss with his HVAC maintenance. So when the HVAC technician finished the HVAC maintenance, he told my buddy that he might want to replace the heat pump. The HVAC professional didn’t think that it would make it through the Summer. Well, my buddy thought it would and wanted to wait. I just got a text from him telling me that the heat pump died. Plus, he’s going to have to wait weeks before the HVAC company can replace the residential HVAC. Indeed, that was a terrible bet. I sure wouldn’t want to be facing the rest of July with no air conditioning.

Enjoying crisp, cooling air from the heat pump

It’s pretty amazing when I have to go outside midday during the Summer.

  • It’s blazing hot this time of year as the heat and humidity are at their highest levels of the year.

Just going out to the car to grab something results in sweating. So when I walk back inside the central air conditioning of the house, it’s such a difference. Of course, that has everything to do with the fact that the heat pump provides the cooling comfort we need to deal with such temperatures. Still, it’s astonishing to walk back inside the house from outside. Today, the temperature outside was 93 when I went outside to grab something. The thermostat in our home is set to 80 degrees. That seems like a high setting right? Well, we do our best to acclimate to the rising temperatures during the Spring. That means we don’t need as much air conditioning all Summer. The 80 degree thermostat setting is pretty much normal for midday in our home. Still, it’s just night and day going from 93 degrees and loads of humidity to inside the central air conditioning of our home. It’s just remarkable how inviting and comfortable that 80 degrees is when you walk in from outside. What hits you first is the fact that the temperature is nearly 15 degrees cooler. But it’s the crispness of the air that really makes the cooling comfort. The air conditioning process actually is balancing the humidity levels as it’s cooling the house. That means mold and mildew are mitigated while the air feels so delightful compared to the humidity outside.

Being a heating technician exposes to very diverse exterior and interior home designs

Jason turned away to study the house.

It was built in the style of a Mediterranean villa but with a heavy Moorish influence that indicated it had been constructed in the twenties.

The interior was dark and opulent. He could imagine one of the old silent-screen vamps at home with the narrow stained-glass windows, arched doorways, and wrought-iron grillwork. The living room had priceless Persian rugs on the floor, custom-made chairs with leather upholstery, and an antique samovar over the fireplace. It was a perfect place for a man with a Valentino complex. It was not his place to judge; he was making an observation. Lucius, the homeowner, had called the heating technician for home services. It would include boiler repair and duct sealing. During his career working on heating equipment in different places, Jason had seen a lot of homes, but this one was in its league. Lucius was not in, but the housekeeper led him to the heat pump installation. The electric heat pump looked fairly new. The ductwork, however, was a little older and needed some work. Jason worked on the heating device and also fine-tuned the wireless thermostat. Lucius had done an excellent job when it came to maintaining the electric heating system. Everything went smoothly with the electric HVAC, and he was on his way to another house where the caller said she needed an HVAC specialist for heater maintenance and a new HEPA filter. He automatically offered energy-saving tips out of habit and gave free advice on the different HVAC products for sale. Life as an HVAC serviceman had never been better. The workflow was great, and he had received a salary increase; maybe it was time he proposed to Layla. Still, what was the hurry? He was a young man, and contrary to what people said, at thirty-five he still had time to dally.
