When I took her furniture shopping with me, she tried to pick out certain pieces, but I found them to be gaudy and over-the-top. My mom was used to a certain type of sophistication and luxury, but clearly, I am not the same way. In fact, I like rustic furniture that is cozy and inviting. Everyday furniture that is not just there for decoration. Growing up, my mom’s house had so many glamorous furniture pieces that we weren’t allowed to be in certain rooms, and I was always bothered by that. So instead of glamorous furniture I chose to decorate my home with mostly rustic furniture that was warm and welcoming. Needless to say, my mom didn’t approve, but it’s my house and I chose what made me happy.
