I will write one more of these things plus then transfer on to larger plus better stuff.

One thing I need to do is get some food in my stomach so that I can focus, as there is nothing worse than having a growling stomach while you try to get some work done.

I ate about an hour plus a half ago, however it seems like I didn’t eat enough as I am feeling quite hungry right now. I may make my famous grilled cheese sandwich for a quick supper plus then go to the local corporation with my roommate to get some paperwork done for her. After that is done I will come house plus work for a little bit more on my Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system before I do my exercise routine plus then head out to meet some Heating, Ventilation plus A/C tech friends on the beach. This week is pretty windy plus cool plus it is also the last day of March, so I want to get some sun on the beach before it gets too crowded, but if the beach is too windy then I will go to the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C corporation plus hang out there while my wonderful friend and I watch the other heating workers do their thing in the showroom. It is going to be a tied up weekend plus they are trying to get everything ready for when the doors open on Tuesday day, the heating corporation expects to sell a lot of equipment this weekend because they have a lot of sales on the old furnaces that they are trying to unload from the shelves.

It is going to be a busy weekend and they are trying to get everything ready for when the doors open on Tuesday morning! I wanted some simple roof repairs made to the apartment building I owned. There were some leaks that were minor, but I wanted them repairs before they became a major repair and not just a nuisance. I had never owned rental properties before, and I always did the repairs on my home, so I wasn’t sure of the protocol for doing repairs on an apartment building. Since it was a five-story building, I figure I needed a contractor for the roof repairs, but ‌I wasn’t sure. I called a roofing contractor and told them what kind of building it was, and asked if they could repair the roof for me. He wanted to come to the apartment building and check out the situation. When he saw it was a flat top roof, he wanted to know what was underneath the roof. Were there more apartments or storage space? I showed him the apartment floor. He didn’t like the idea of needing to take any of the roofing. If there were leaks, it could be between the walls, and he pointed out areas where the roofing was lifted. I was thinking roof repair was going to turn into a roof replacement. I thanked him for the information and said I would be in touch with him. I called two other roofing contractors, and they all said the same. I was probably going to need a new roof and not just roof repairs. I asked all three companies to come back and give me a quote for the roof and asked how much it was going to cost.

I was expecting the roofers to arrive by 6 AM.

I knew I could greet them, find out how long it would take to put the new roof on the house, and give them the down payment, while not being late for work.

When 6:30 arrived and I hadn’t yet seen the roofers, I was worrying. I had a 7:30 AM meeting to attend, and since I was the general manager, I had to be there. I called the number on the business card the roofers had given me, and asked when they would be arriving. The man seemed to be confused when he asked if I was sure I had called the right roofing company. He said he had no appointments at this address. I had the card in front of me with the date and time written on it. I told him his roofers were to be there by 6 AM and it was now almost 7. I couldn’t wait much longer. He asked for a phone number where I could be reached, so I gave him my work phone number. I was just finishing up with my meeting when I got a phone call. It was the roofing company. He said someone had written the wrong date on the appointment book. They had the roofers scheduled for the following week. I thought the roofers were running late at 7 AM, but now the roofers are running a week late. I wrote the appointment on my work calendar, so I didn’t plan any meetings or make appointments that couldn’t be canceled.

Most of our roof looked good, but after the storm, we needed one entire section replaced. I started looking around for quotes on roof repairs. There was a large branch on the roof, and part of that branch had broken through to the attic. We had several people come to the house to look at the branch, but only one of them was honest. He said it wasn’t our job to call for roof repair quotes. We should call the insurance company and they would get an insurance adjuster to the house to total all the damage. He thought we would need a new roof, and the insurance company would pay for the roof replacement or roof repairs; depending on what the insurance adjuster decided. I thanked him for being honest and called the insurance company as soon as the man who did the quote for the roof repair left. The insurance adjuster told us we would probably need a new roof when he saw all the damage that was done. He thought we would need new struts in the attic, and he noticed damage to the house that we hadn’t. After the insurance adjuster was done with his paperwork, we asked if we could use the company that had told us to call him. I explained how we had called to get quotes for roof repairs. He told us it was our decision who we used. Since that company was on their list of accepted roofing companies, he told us he would call them and get an estimated time for repairs. I didn’t know we would stay in a hotel while they made the repairs, but the insurance company paid for it.
